Booking a stay at The Byre

The Byre Pond

Noun: a cowshed

Relaxation and wellness are at the heart of The Byre’s ethos and the building invites you to take time. Take time to lose yourself in a book, sink into the deep luxurious copper bath or sit and watch dragonflies buzz over the natural pond.

This once derelict farm building has been sympathetically restored by a small yet highly skilled team of local craftsmen who have retained many of the original features.

Surrounded by chalky downlands, historic forests, rural villages, iconic landmarks and glorious coastline, The Byre offers history, nature, comfort and calmness in a tranquil and unspoilt corner of East Sussex.

I had the pleasure of staying in The Byre for 2 nights. It really is a special place, nestled within the South Downs National Park. It's wonderfully located for exploring the countryside and only a short amble to the charming Alfriston. The Sussex Ox is literally on the doorstep, which embraces you with its cosy open fire and wholesome menu. The interior of the barn is breathtakingly beautiful, boasting both character and luxury in abundance. The bed is grand, sumptuous, and dressed with a marshmallow soft duvet for ultimate snugness. The copper bath, just divine. The encompassing garden and views are just dreamy. It is the most perfect Sussex retreat.
